Job Description:/
Our client is seeking an individual with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to monitor and support various web-based and mainframe systems, and to engineer, control, and support desktop, telephony, and networked environments. This position will work closely with the Director of Information Technology to ensure that all systems are responding within service level agreements established with our business partners.


/Primary
Responsibilities:/
Provide support in the following areas:
o AS400 infrastructure, operations, and applications
o Desktop hardware and software
o Network layer support
o Web-based infrastructure, operations and applications
o Routine and ad hoc IT operations (e.g., removable storage backups)
Manage the support queue
Assume responsibility for the quality of support - includes timely resolution of all support requests, ensuring proper documentation is delivered, and that appropriate root cause analysis is performed
Engineer changes to the organization's physical infrastructure as business and technical needs dictate change - this includes (but is not limited to):
o Servers
o Workstations
o Printers
o Other hardware (e.g., telephony, routers and switches, storage devices)
Configure and deploy these changes
Assist with the evaluation and resolution of system security issues
Manage relationships with hardware and software vendor resources
Researches alternatives for hardware and software solutions through all phases from gathering of requirements to selection and negotiation of pricing and terms
/Required Experience/Skills:/

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science - advance degree is a plus
4-6 years of experience in desktop / network / hardware and software support
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent personal organization skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent troubleshooting and analysis skills
Ability to work alone and in group settings
Experience with software licensing and maintenance and hardware warranties
Ability to interface with vendor resources

/Environment:/
Our client's Information Technology environment is currently a hybrid in transition from legacy AS/400 applications, the majority of which are written in RPG and CL, to browser-based applications, the majority of which are written in Java. DB2/400 continues to be the primary relational database (RDBMS) source, supplemented by PostgreSQL.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
