Communications and Marketing Manager

Job Type Full-time Description This position is located in Evanston, Illinois.
The Communications and Marketing Manager develops and implements effective marketing and communications strategies to advance and promote the mission of the organization and enhance visibility and reach in our communities.
This role reports directly to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications and is responsible for implementing the overall YWCA Evanston/North Shore communications plan to include program strategies that align with department goals, internal and external communications, and fundraising.
The position is responsible for the management of daily marketing and communications activities and is an expert at managing and optimizing digital, print, branding, content, storytelling, and media relations that support significant growth in fundraising, mission impact, and program outreach.
The position solicits and offers input on and contributes recommendations for agency policies, and department priorities, and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Administration and Branding (30%) Collaborates with the Vice President of Marketing and Communications and communications team to develop and implement comprehensive, long-term, and annual communications plans and strategies.
Ensures that all marketing and communication materials meet brand standards and are mission-aligned.
Manages organization-wide messaging framework and delivers messaging guidance as needed to ensure all internal staff understands and can deliver core YWCA Evanston/North Shore messages to external audiences.
Develops and maintains communications and content calendar that enables a steady cadence for proactive storytelling to multiple audiences.
Works closely with the development team to design, implement, and evaluate communication and marketing strategies for organizational and project-specific fundraising goals, including special events and programs.
Collaborates with the Development Team to support fundraising campaigns and initiatives, creating dynamic and engaging content to build donor loyalty, convey program goals, and engage diverse audiences.
Supports VP in building multi-channel communications programs that leverage, as appropriate, both external and internal platforms, including press releases for press coverage; social media; email; and print materials.
Fosters a cohesive organizational look, feel, and tone across individual initiatives and campaigns.
This includes overseeing the development, management, and production of organizational marketing materials and assets and ensuring consistency of design standards, quality, and tone.
Monitors and updates key organization talking points for board and staff members to deliver to internal and external audiences and prepare related presentation materials.
Supports the VP in aligning and integrating the communications objectives of all teams within the organization through partnership and planning.
Builds out and leverages a library of YWCA Evanston/North Shore program participant testimonials, photo, and video content that showcases our programs, clients, and staff.
Uses a data-informed approach to inform ongoing strategy and maximize the impact of communications initiatives; provides ongoing reporting of metrics tied to initiatives.
Digital Communications - Website, Email, and Social (25%) Oversees management of the YW website, maintaining strong relationships with web designer/vendor as needed, ensuring technology meets the need of the organization and digital campaigns.
Manages writing and design, and scheduling of e-blasts in Constant Contact to increase participation and engagement.
Manages maintenance and updating of Constant Contact lists and strategizes and implements tools to grow lists.
Manages continuously updated and maintained WordPress website and ensures the integration of Search Engine Optimization to maximize website visibility.
Understands and utilizes various platforms like YoDeck (digital signage), Community Pass (Aquatics), QGiv (Peer-to-Peer fundraising), and Eventbrite to facilitate participation and expand visibility.
Utilizes existing marketing channels and works with the Vice President of Marketing and Communications to develop new marketing opportunities to expand YW Shops' visibility.
Manages Yelp and Google information and reviews for the agency.
Monitors and reports on analytics and usage.
Writes and edits to create organizational newsletters and web content.
Collaborates with the Vice President of Marketing and Communications and manages Coordinator to develop and execute comprehensive, long-term, and annual social media plans and strategies.
Manages social media plan that drives awareness, builds trust, and motivates stakeholders to participate, donate, advocate, and volunteer.
Initiates collaboration with team members across the organization to develop social media toolkits for program-related events, special events, and fundraising campaigns.
Press and Media (15%) Develops contacts and nurtures relationships with media representatives, creating opportunities for keeping the YWCA Evanston/North Shore in front of all constituencies, including funders, individual donors, neighborhood organizations, constituents, and the public.
Writes and distributes press releases and media alerts as necessary.
Develops ideas and opportunities for feature articles, presentations, and other public relations activities promoting awareness of the YW, its programs and services.
Prepares quarterly summary earned media placements.
Community Outreach and Engagement (15%) Tracks community tabling and sponsorship activity with YW staff Manages inventory and check-out process for community event tabling supplies (promotional items, swag, signage) Advises YW staff on community relations projects and sponsorship opportunities.
Supervision (10%) Supervises direct report and freelance resources.
Stays current with agency technology and its proper usage including, but not limited to, taking the initiative to seek out personal training opportunities, training direct reports on proper usage, and ensuring staff maximizes their efficiency with the use of available technology.
Hires a diverse staff in accordance with agency policies and procedures and submits timely, accurate, and completed hiring paperwork.
Ensures new hires are on-boarded in accordance with agency policies and procedures including, but not limited to, developing, reviewing, and submitting new-hire work plans for those working 20 hours or more per week, and training on agency operations, policies, procedures, and job responsibilities.
Oversees the workflow and productivity of staff including, but not limited to, maintaining accurate work schedules, reviewing, and approving timesheets and activity reports in a timely manner, setting and regularly reviewing professional goals, expectations, and accomplishments.
Acts as primary liaison between leadership and direct reports and ensures timely, thorough, and effective organizational communication so staff feel informed and aware of organizational policies, practices, and procedures, and growth.
Effectively advocates for staff by regularly soliciting staff input and representing staff needs and interests to agency leadership.
Ensures all staff understand and adhere to all policies in the Employee Handbook.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES (5%) Attends staff training and participates in agency committees.
Pursues professional development.
Understands and adheres to all YWCA Evanston/North Shore procedures and policies as well as YWCA Employee Handbook.
Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education :
Bachelor's degree in writing communications, marketing, digital and multi-media communications, digital marketing, or related field with relevant coursework.
Experience and/or Training :
At least 5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or content marketing.
Strong writer and creative storyteller with demonstrated experience in both designing and writing copy for marketing materials.
Demonstrated creative writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication experience with the ability to communicate with diverse audiences.
Demonstrated ability in managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines, with strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Minimum of three years of experience directly supervising staff Licenses/Certificates:
Completion of the Illinois 40-Hour Domestic Violence Certificate Training within 6 months of hire.
Valid driver's license Technology/Equipment:
Intermediate proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Microsoft Office.
Intermediate proficiency with communications platforms such as Constant Contact.
Intermediate proficiency with WordPress.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience and/or Training:
At least 7 years of extensive experience managing integrated communications initiatives in a collaborative, project-driven environment.
Content creation and production experience.
Experience leading, developing and managing agency-wide annual social media plans.
Experience writing published press releases and media alerts.
Experience representing an organization and building partnerships at community events.
Licenses/Certificates:
Valid auto insurance.
Technology/Equipment :
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Microsoft Office.
Advanced proficiency with communications platforms such as Constant Contact.
Advanced proficiency with WordPress.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
