30 pm Position Overview The Category Manager is responsible for managing and driving category specific contract coverage and compliance.
Areas of responsibility include medical supplies, non-medical supplies, implants, devices, equipment and purchased services with a focus on best value and Total Cost of Ownership.
This position collaborates with service line, administrative, and physician leaders with the goal of attaining supplies and services that offer the optimal balance of cost quality and outcomes.
The Category Manager takes ownership of their assigned categories and provides proactive suggestions for improvement of expenses, guidance on all non-labor business decisions, manages the portfolio of agreements, and is comfortable presenting and discussing complex Supply Chain initiatives to all levels of leadership.
The Category Manager will lead their respective Value Analysis Teams (VAT), engage in other assigned category specific committees to drive results towards the position's overall goals.
The position reports to Supply Chain Procurement leadership.
This position is a full-time, benefit eligible position located at our Corporate Office in Evanston.
Responsibilities Responsible for analyzing current practices (financial, contractual and operational data sources), standardizing, improving, documenting, and supporting NorthShore's assigned categories throughout the lifecycle of Supply Chain initiatives.
Supply Chain Procurement leader of product conversions, standardization, value analysis, and contract management.
Champions Supply Chain expense reduction initiatives throughout NorthShore.
Utilizes and effectively applies contract law and category knowledge.
Participates in the development of short-term tactics and long-range plans to secure NorthShore's business and legal interests resulting in optimal administration and category management solutions.
Participates in the processes concerning negotiation, consultation on supplies, distribution agreements, awarding of agreements and supplier performance.
Partners with key administrative, clinical, and physician leaders to develop, manage, analyze, and provide recommendations in regards to category specific RFPs, contracts, bids, trials, and cost reduction initiatives.
Collaborates with Supply Chain Analysts, clinical area analysts, and other areas to gather supporting data then summarize the results for Supply Chain initiatives.
Leads assigned Value Analysis Teams focuses on providing proactive cost savings, standardization, product conversions, and on boarding new supplies, implants, devices, equipment and services.
QualificationsOur ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor's Degree with 5
years of Supply Chain experience MBA, CMRP, CPSM preferred Expertise in the following areas within Healthcare Supply Chain:
Vendor negotiation, value analysis, contract management, managing product conversions, project management, and product standardization.
Must be a critical thinker, well organized, detail oriented, skilled at problem solving, and high level written and verbal communication skills.
Experience collaborating with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPO), analyzing, negotiating, summarizing, and presenting complex agreements.
Ability to build relationships with clinical, administrative, and physician leadership.
Intermediate level skills with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Adobe and PDF.
Experience with Lawson system highly desirable.
Knowledge of legal principles and routine business terms.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
